In 1919 Gregorio Garofalo arrived from Puglia a region in Southern Italy, to begin his American dream. He rented a basement, put in his coal stoves, and sprinkled sawdust on the floor. With his knowledge of creating homemade wines and his passion of cooking, Gregorio's dream began. In no time at all, people came from great distances to indulge in the delicacies Gregorio prepared. But what the guests loved most of all was the way that he treated everyone like a member of his own family. Today, with his third generation carrying on the recipes and values he taught them, Gregorio is smiling. Puglia's menu is vast and eclectic with something sure to impress every member of your group. Notable selections include the Aged Center Cut Black Angus Shell Steak (with a potato croquette,) Italian Style Meatballs (served on garlic bread with ricotta,) Chicken Francaise (chicken breast sautéed in lemon butter and white wine (served with potato and vegetable) and the Veal Sorrentio (veal medallions, eggplant, prosciutto and mozzarella cheese served with potato and vegetable.) All of us at Puglia thank you for making Gregorio's dream a reality. Visit us the next time you're in Little Italy.
